Put the sign back up at Vale & Sons

The storm on the 14th took the sign off the front of Vale & Sons Hardware. It had hung there since 1984, painted by Marcus’s father, and it came down in one piece into the parking lot at four in the morning.

Marcus has said repeatedly that he does not want a fuss and that he will sort it out in the spring. He has also been quietly not sorting it out since the 14th, which is why we are doing this without asking him.

A signwriter two towns over has looked at the photographs and says she can reproduce it, lettering and all, for a little under six thousand dollars. Anything above that goes to the shop’s roof, which is the next thing the wind will find.
